Early College Sojourn students have worked all summer writing a workshop on nonviolence for students at Youngstown Early College High School. They focused on changing the culture of their school and asked students to commit to not using the “b” word, the “n” word, “that’s so gay” or any other put downs. They used the Six Principles of Nonviolence of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a way to live and handle confrontations.
The students used videos, group work and student participation to get their message across in a two and one-half hour workshop. They presented to the ninth graders in the morning and the tenth graders in the afternoon.
