Memorial Service for Simeon Booker on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
Simeon Booker grew up in Youngstown, became the first African-American reporter for the “Washington  Post”, and went on to work for “Jet Magazine”. He is responsible for the picture of Emmett Till and the article in “Jet” that shocked the nation and the world. He covered numerous events during the Civil Rights Movement and was on the bus with the Freedom Riders in 1961 when the bus was fire bombed in Alabama.  More photos on facebook.
